Dancing Couple

MAN my sketches have VERY FUN NAMES, do they not? ANYWAY, have a fancy free young couple from the forties dancing the night away. Referenced from a historical photo I found online.

It’s still too soon to talk about Game of Thrones season 8 without it hurting, but I like this drawing.

Mucha Mural

Mucha Mural

This is my bedroom wall! Or at least it is as of me posting this photo. I was inspired by Alphonse Mucha, particularly his paintings Summer and Rêverie. I still don’t know what I’m going to do when I move out of this apartment…will I ask the landlord if he wants to keep it? Will I have the heart to paint over it? Is the nature of art itself temporary, or is that the nature of nature? The nature of life?

ANYWAY. if you want me to paint your walls let me know.

Much Creepier Than Intended

Much Creepier Than Intended

Ok, so, you know Amedeo Modigliani? The Italian painter who does portraits of people with elongated necks and faces and the occasional pair of dark eyes? Well, this painting is a study of Modigliani’s techniques, and I quite like how it turned out, hence its presence in my portfolio, BUT my grandma has a giant print of this hanging up in her house and seeing it poster size, rather than the 8 in x 10 in canvas I painted….it is…a little unsettling. Not my intention, really, but what can you do?

Flee From Fog Manor Mansion

Inktober 2017 was fun, and that was all because of this image, essentially. I was looking at the list of prompts and I thought “how neat would it be if I had my inktober drawings tell a story?” Then I drew this mock cover for a fake gothic novel and just ran with it from there. Super fun.

Sad Girl from Chapter IX

Sad Girl from Chapter IX

Look, I could go into how this is my artistic interpretation of a scene from Chapter IX of The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, wherein the main character Christine Daae, in a state of great emotional duress and having just been returned to the world after being kidnapped by the Opera Ghost, tries and fails to steal a few moments of happiness with her childhood sweetheart, BUT I feel like that would tip you off that Phantom of the Opera is my favorite story since I already have another Phantom piece in this portfolio…so instead I’m just gonna say “hey, look at this sad girl with an intricate hair style.”

A study of two artists, pairing the Art Nouveau influence of Alphonse Mucha with the rough, textured, mix-media layered collage technique of Robert Rauschenberg. I hand stretched the apx. 2 ft x 4 ft canvas.
